Message: we care

Several different archaeological groups extracted promises from Pentagon officers that Iraq's national museums would be protected, but...Artifacts? Who cares about stinking artifacts? "Bad things happen in life, and people do loot," Rumsfeld said.

From a Veterans Administration press release about a new government Earthday website:

"In the three decades since the first Earth Day celebration, our air is cleaner, our water is purer, and our natural resources are better protected," President Bush said. "We have learned from our successes and are putting that experience to work at the Federal, state and local government level." (Italics added)
Right. His Administration's emasculating clean air regulations, refusing to support stricter CAFE standards, and allowing increased logging and snowmobiling in national parks, but that doesn't count.

The whole VA thing about the Earthday site should maybe win a surrealist award.....especially with the new vets coming home practically glowing in the dark from all the DU they've inhaled and crawled around in.
