"On the street where you live"

Spruance Road, Palos Verdes Drive, Kelton Avenue, Dodson Drive, Turner Road, Cherry Avenue, Drachman Street, Water Street, Kahapili Street.

What's up with those? They are the names of the streets I've lived on since 1959. Before that it was mostly military bases, although there were a couple of years in Charleston, SC and in Falls Church, VA when we lived off-base as well, but I was between 1 and 4, so I'm not accountable for remembering those.

Where'd you used to live?

Jurupa Avenue, Elmwood Court, Massachusetts Drive, Eton Road, Beechwood Place, Durso Avenue, Pomaikai Street, Brimmer Street, Wellington Drive, and my current street which you know but which I shall not reveal online. That covers all but a few, and I'm sure I could determine the names of those if I had time to dig. Covers age 1-34, the last 4ish years being at my current digs.

First 17.5 years on Buchanan Ave. Then, in quick order through college and grad school: Guadalupe, Broadmoor, 51st, Oak Hollow, Hillcrest, Green Oaks, Shenandoah and now Dunkirk. Always a drive, lane or street. Never anything scenic like a Pass, or a Trail, although the first apartment on Oak Hollow had the best patio I've ever had, under about fourteen oak trees.

Lessee now ... working backwards from the present:

That covers 52 years, in the states of Washington, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Massachusetts, New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Vermont, New Hampshire, New Jersey.

Hmm. This would seem to prove that Americans are indeed a mobile society.

Hm. From the beginning: E. Main Street, Delside Drive, Main Street, Mulberry Street, Prince Street, Lakeside Drive, Oak Street, Mechanic Street, Vinegar Hill Road, Britcher Street, Wildwood Drive, N. Worcester Street, and, finally, the street I live on now which shall go blessedly nameless.

Lots of apartment complexes with goofy addresses I don't remember. Actual streets include Hunters Cove, Dartmouth Avenue (twice), Clarendon Avenue (one over from Dartmouth).

Hey Mac,

Are you sure that Dartmouth and Clarendon are Avenues? They sound like adjacent Streets in Boston's Back Bay (Arlington, Berkeley, C, D, Exeter, ...).

I thought of titling this entry "To think that I saw it on Mulberry Street." Looking at Raye's response...;)

If Mac is talking about the Dartmouth and Clarendon in Boston, in the Back Bay, he is indeed speaking of Streets, not Avenues. I should know -- one of those streets is printed on my business card, and I walk past both of them at least twice a day. ;)

nice little me-me, Linky.
hmmmmmmmmmmmm - we were pretty mobile as youngsters - dad was always just a day ahead of the rent collector. And, I can't recall of the street names, but they were mostly within a few blocks of each other (so the rent collector didn't try very hard, or he would have found us.)

We've been at the same address for nearly 25 years now, so you will have to forgive my lapses in memory. ;-))

Crescent Gardens Drive, Burlis Rd, Riggs Ave, Newington Road (Salem Village Apts -- my phone prefix was 666, I kid you not), Terrace View Rd, Route 6, 9th Ave/48th Street, 52nd Street, Stadium Ave, Middletown Rd.

Hmm.

Peppertree Lane, Kaholalele Street, and Quail Road are the other three that dropped off my radar yesterday. And I lived on two different houses on Kaholalele!

What fun! Let's see. Keeaumoku Street, Paoakalani Street, Kapiolani Street (Hilo), W. Lanikaula Street (Hilo), Kanamee Street, Kaonohi Street, and Iho Place.

I remember 61st and Hope, and that's about it! Everything else was just numbered streets...oh yeah, and I *DID* live on Elm Street during high school. That messed with me BIG TIME when I saw the Freddy Krueger movies! ;o)

Not Boston, but Bessemer, AL. They're avenues, which run in alphabetical order... Arlington, Berkley, Clarendon, Dartmouth, Exeter, Fairfax, etc. A lot of academic names in there for whatever reason.
