That seems like an appropriate way to introduce this photo gallery of Chernobyl and its surroundings, taken by a young Ukrainian woman on a motorcycle. It's probably better if you've got a high-speed connection, as the images are big, but even on my 56K dialup you can get the feel of the place. Remember "The Day After?" That's what these look like. I wonder what she did with the fuel after her trip-had it become contaminated during her excursion? What about herself and the bike she was riding..
I also got a kick out of her taking a guide with her to a highly intensive radiation site who had "great taste in shoes"!
The kindergarten photos were so sad.
And the teacher's notes stated that the Saturday walk had been cancelled due to "unforeseen contingency"....
This could happen anywhere...
There is a nuclear power site about 50 miles from where I live, and it is decaying...
