Hula Fest

Jennifer OyamaIt's Merrie Monarch time again. This is the biggest event in hula, and it happens every year. It's held in Hilo's Edith Kanaka'ole Tennis Stadium, which has limited seating, and tickets are sold out a year ahead of the event. Someday I hope to go see it.

yup, me too, Linky. We didn't find out about it until too late - so we are coming afterwards. Only three more weeks. Hope we can hook up on our layover.

Proud to say my cousin is there now with her halau. We know it's a big deal since it's harder for mainland halaus to qualify.

Thanks for the newspaper links especially since one paper had a photo of her. Their halau came in fourth in one category, pretty good since it is their first time in Merrie Monarch.
