Two days ago I bought $10 worth of gas; that got me slightly over 4 gallons at $2.28/gallon. Today I bought a half-gallon of milk for $4.19. A half-gallon!
The government's Consumer Price Index basket needs to be updated.
Posted by Linkmeister at July 15, 2004 05:20 PMhmmmm,
can you trade your DSL modem in for a gallon of gas??? ;^}
Scary, and it certainly can't be because of the expense of shipping milk from the mainland. Last I heard there were cows in Hawaii.
Posted by: jadedju at July 15, 2004 06:32 PMThere are indeed cows in Hawai'i. In fact, Safeway's Lucerne brand (mainland moo juice) is less expensive by a quarter or so than the local stuff.

Posted by: shelley at July 16, 2004 05:30 AM$4.19 a half gallon! Where do you live?
I'm paying nearly that for gas, but I have to use premium for my car.
I noticed that things over there were higher in general. We're paying about 50% more for milk than we were just a few months ago. Fuel here is running right at $2/gallon.
