Labor Day thought

Abe Lincoln was an eminently quotable guy:

Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if Labor had not first existed. Labor is superior to capital, and deserves much the higher consideration.

Despite it coming from the first Republican President, I don't expect George Bush or his minions to agree.

Harry Turtledove posits indirectly, in How Few Remain, that Lincoln could very well have been a Marxist (or, at least, a Socialist). Tell that to George (either of them).
