Those of us who are long-time subscribers to Sports Illustrated will remember "The Curious Case of Sidd Finch," George Plimpton's story about the pitcher with the 168-mph fastball, published on April 1, 1985. I remember that well. I hope I was somewhat skeptical on first reading, but I won't swear to it.
