Pooch update

She's walking again, slowly. Whatever it was seems to be wearing off. The doc doesn't seem to know what it might have been. The bad news is that he wants to keep her till Saturday, because he wants to check her reaction to an arthritis pill he had prescribed last month. I gave it to her for three days and then stopped, because she was turning into a quivering mass after taking it. He's never seen that effect before, so he wants to test it.

Can dogs give informed consent?

My thoughts are with you and your pooch. Max (the bird) flew into the fireplace grate yesterday and was favoring a foot--she's fine, but she certainly got our attention. Must be the time of year for critter ailments.

Very good news! So good to hear that her hind legs are working again.

Poor baby, does the vet really have to test the medication out on her when she's had such a rough couple of days? I'll bet she'll be glad when she can come home for some extra cuddles and treats and spoiling.

My driving instructor used to breed and show working labradors who often have problems with arthritis - he once told me that his vet recommended and aspririn a day in the dogs food to help alleviate it. Maybe it would help?

She's getting 75mg of Rimadyl per day rather than aspirin. He initially suggested the aspirin but then realized he could sell us the prescription stuff (ok, that's cynical, but...).
