In an article discussing a fight in the Senate about funding Medicaid for Katrina/Rita victims, here's one of the more ludicrous remarks I've seen:
Sununu told senators the time had come to exercise greater caution in the relief effort."We need to do much more to try to find ways to cover this additional spending so we do not increase the deficit and leave an unfortunate financial legacy for future generations," he said.
Right. Senator, how did you vote on the Bush tax cuts which have added to the deficit? How have you voted on funding the Iraq War, which has also added to the deficits?
Spare me the hypocrisy. You and your "fiscal conservative" cohorts are all about giving money to the defense industry and your wealthy contributors, and the hell with people who really need it.

The republican'ts in power now seem to justlower the bar by half at the least. I think Vonnegut had the right idea, I can't remember the name of the story, nor is the concept original to him, but it really should be a rule that only those who don't wish to be in charge should be in charge.
Sorry about my spelling and grammar issues this evening been a long day and I have been celebrating DeLay's indictment. I just hope someone gets pictures of him being processed - maybe a mug shot - handcuffs are just too much to hope for.
