I was given a $25 gift certificate from Borders for Christmas. What book should I buy?
Update: In response to a question in the comments, either fiction or non-fiction. My library catalog is here, if you're looking for pointers ;).
Posted by Linkmeister at December 30, 2005 11:08 AM | TrackBackAngels and Demons by Dan Brown is very good. I just gave a copy to a friend of mine who is raving about it.
There is a new book by Margaret Atwood called The Penelopiad which is at the top of my next book to read list. It the story of the Odyssey from Penelope's perspective.

Posted by: Tom Hilton at December 30, 2005 11:47 AMAngels & Demons is really good, better then DaVinci Code I think.
I'm a big James Patterson & Patricia Cornwell, & JA Jance fan. Murder mystry, forensic science-ish type.
May I suggest James Patterson's WHEN THE WIND BLOWS. It makes you wonder......
Malama pono.
Posted by: Lika at December 30, 2005 02:26 PMI just posted a long list of good SF on my blog. For political and science books, go to my 'Books' category.
Posted by: coturnix at December 30, 2005 10:25 PMThe Uplift War by David Brin. Its the 3rd book in a great series.
Posted by: billT at December 31, 2005 10:06 AMHmmm... How about a classic, like the newest translation of Don Quixote? I didn't looka through your whole catalogue - do you have Don Q., or Melville's Moby Dick? I re-read MD this fall, and are there ever lots of timeless and yet timely comments on human behavior in it.
How about David Mitchell's Cloud Atlas?
