Call your Senators

Numbers here.

Tell them you support a filibuster of Judge Alito. Tell them you've been told for years how important the Supreme Court is, and you believe it. Tell them (if they're reported as wavering) that they should follow their own advice and take the Supreme Court seriously as a co-equal third branch of government. Tell them (particularly if they're Republicans) that Alito has already shown in Rybar (that's the machine gun case where he dissented, saying Congress had no authority to regulate their sale) that he doesn't think much of Congress's power, and why would they vote for a guy willing to diminish that power?

This is important, and it won't take but 10 minutes of your time. Be civil but firm. Please call.

First off...Alito won't be filibustered. Not going to happen. They can't do it.

With that out of the way, there is nothing about Alito's nomination hearings that is not about his abortion stance, just admit it. Every last bit of this is concerned with Roe v. Wade. Every last bit.

Sure the loons decided to throw in a few lines about how President Bush is getting Gestapo on us all with his whole wiretappingpeoplethataretalkingtobinladen thing, but outside of that fad of a bandwagon it's all Roe, admit it.

If it's all about Roe (and it most certainly is) where does that leave us? Or, more importantly, where does that leave the Democratic Party (us conservatives know exactly where we stand, where we're going and how we're getting there). Well, that's simple, really. The Democratic Party is finally showing signs of backing off abortion, giving further weight to the growing opinion that modern-day Democrats have no clue or conviction. Probably because they finally woke up and realized abortion is disgusting, unnecessary, brutal, malign slaughter of a human being whose rights guaranteed it by the great Constitution of the United States of America are being violated by said murder. More probably, they finally woke up and realized the American public finds it appalling and they want their votes. Even your liberal mouthpieces at the NYT are backing off baby killing.

Most importantly, if you haven't figured it out yet, for us conservatives it is most definitely all about Roe. And we're winning. And no matter what any liberal spouts off about ideals, beliefs, powers of Congress or government the overwhelming fact still remains: Conservatives are fighting to stop the genocide of generations upon generations of living, feeling human beings and liberals are still bitching about politics, Bush and the flipping environment. That, sir, is why we're winning and why you're making a death-jerk plea to initiate a filibuster.

You folks have worked your collective self into an utterly indefensible corner, and it's a damn good day to be a conservative. What’s more is I wouldn’t care at all about this latest spout of politics on the hill if it didn’t concern ice picks being shoved through children’s skulls. Yes, it is a damn good day to be a conservative American.

Nice. I don't see Roe mentioned anywhere in that post, but apparently that doesn't matter to the single-minded.

Yeah...you're right. It's just difficult to pay attention to much else when children are being melted and broken in to tiny little peices! *shrug* Sorry!
