Retribution

Remember young Mr. Deutsch, who insisted that "Big Bang" should have the word "theory" appended to it when it was used in NASA documents?

Apparently he never graduated from Texas A&M as he claimed. Worse, he falsified his résumé to say that he had. So, he's resigned, no doubt to spend more time with his family.

Political hacks are sprinkled all through Federal agencies. There used to be civil service laws to keep that from happening. Not any more.

Actually, the Civil Service rules never covered the political appointees that the Executive Branch could name.. and "hacks" are truly a bi-partisan tradition.

The number of jobs in which a political appointee can be placed in the federal bureaucracy is small -- just 9,051, according to the 2004 edition of the “United States Government Policy and Supporting Positions,” commonly known as the “Plum Book.”

Congress publishes this book every four years for the new president, which lists the jobs that can be filled by political appointees and the person who currently holds each position.

These 9,051 positions range from high-level policy-making and administrative jobs to clerical positions. Not all these jobs are or will be filled by political appointees.

I'm not allowed hyperbole?

Seriously, I don't remember Democratic Administrations (what few there've been) installing too many obviously unqualified people in important jobs (heckuva job, Brownie!).
