Lost, Season 2, "3 Seconds"

Eh. Suborned, blackmailed, whatever.

Spoilers below the break!

Michael's becoming less sympathetic as each episode unfolds (and I never was inclined to like him much). What kind of tests were the Others making Walt take? Why? Clearly they have a woman in charge, but in charge of what? Why do they want Jack, Kate, Sawyer and Hurley? Where was Locke going and why wasn't he up the beach at the funeral? Eko still seems to be following his path from last week's episode, which would be OK if it were understandable. I think Jack was clearly surprised (moved?) at Sawyer's confession that Jack might be the closest thing to a friend Sawyer's got.

One of my biggest questions is: how come nobody (Jack!) has asked how Henry Gale managed to get free of his cell, get a gun, and shoot Ana Lucia, Libby and Michael?

And I'm very proud of Charlie.

Walt...
I think he's created "The Others", and being a child, the worst possible torture he can think of is, "taking tests".

Locke...
Is going back to the other hatch to watch over everyone on the TVs. In his own head, he's removed himself from that group - elevated himself to "The Watcher" from the "Watched".

The Chosen Group...
I'm guessing it has something to do with the names. Twice, they made a point of mentioning full names - once with Ana Lucia's last name (what was that, btw?) and again, when Miss Clue said Sawyer's real name. I'm working the kinks out of that theory, got to round up all the names....

My wife and I posted our reaction here.

Michael less sympathetic? Folks have been calling for his head on a stick (or at least for a muzzle) since the start of this season.

Why those four? Because they "know." Know what? No clue. The alias angle is a possibility, but those four aren't the only ones to use fake names (Mr. Eko).

The lack of suspicion over the circumstances of Ana Lucia and Libby's deaths has been frustrating, though suddenly this week it seems the lightbulb is coming on. Sayid suspects him, Mr. Eko seems to know something is up, and even Jack's acceptance of Michael's plan sounded half-hearted.

I'm more bothered at the lack of justification for the killings. Mrs. Klugh said, "They'll be so angry, they'll do anything you say." But angry about what? She didn't explicitly say to kill someone, and I can't believe shooting Ana Lucia (Libby appears to be an accident) was the only way to get Henry out and get the survivors hopping mad.

Last week's episode blew us away, so I guess this week's episode was bound to disappoint. Especially since all we're really looking forward to at this point is next week's season finale.
