That ought to fill up an evening.

Mmmm. Good Omens. Read it first!

Too late. I'm halfway through Equal Rites. But I should read Good Omens next, huh? That thing sure gets positive reviews from everyone who's commented on these Pratchett posts.

What an odd coincidence. I decided to dig into my pile of Discworld books after reading about your second crack at them. I started to choose The Fifth Elephant, but I wound up reading Equal Rites, instead. :)

Good Omens is one of my favorite books. I put it just shy of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy on my "funnest books ever" list.

I'll have to go to our local library and look up Terry Pratchett. I'm always looking for new (good) authors.

Thanks for the tip.

I think you get such reviews for Good Omens because it really is a brilliant novel.

I definately have to agree with Solonor - it is just shy of Hithchikers. But then, there isn't much out there to top Douglas Adams.

Good luck getting through them all. . .

Links: I'll just say this: one of the characters in Good Omens drives a cursed Bentley. Any tape left in it longer than 2 weeks turns into Queen's Greatest Hits.

I know. I finished Equal Rites last night and picked up G.O. I'm at the point where Aziraphale has just discovered the book Anathema left in the car.

I keep thinking my library's going to be slow to fill my requests too. But, nope, put 5 books on reserve, and a day later, 5 books show up.

My library does do me one favor and won't allow more than 12 requests at a time.

I'd go with Going Postal next, Link, if your ambition is to get to know Discworld, as opposed to just enjoying Pratchett as an author. Just finished it last night here. Wonderful.

Once I finish Good Omens (the Apocalypse is happening as I type) I'll move to Going Postal, Lance. Thanks.

I copied the book titles at Terry Pratchett Books into a spreadsheet so I could keep track of which ones I've read, which ones I've ordered and not yet picked up, and which ones are in the house.

Wow, people really use library holds and stuff? I usually take a very anarchist tack in getting books from the library - I wander the shelves for hours and find six or seven books. My four year olds method is even worse than mine - he just judges books by their covers. . .Mostly we just go to the book store - the joys of Powell's books being just minutes away. The main store takes up an entire city block. They also have seven or eight sattelite stores and a huge warehouse. I average a visit a week and still find corners of the store I haven't seen yet. On the rare off day that I don't have my son I have been known to spend 6-8 hours there - of course on days I do have him our visits can take 3-5 hours. We have even had kids and parents who thought we were doing official story times and ended up with a dozen plus kids enjoying stories with us.
