Fridge full

If I've learned one thing about hosting a pot-luck party at your house, it's that you needn't do any cooking for a couple of days afterward. Leftovers include pasta salad, green salad, fruit salad, mochiko chicken and ahi poke.

Brilliant way to get out of cooking for a few days. Of course there is the cleanup afterwards.

I can't really get away with doing that though - any more than 2-3 people and I am very uncomfortable. I manage to deal with it in public but I just can't bring it into my sanctuary.

I do, however, always end up taking home a bunch of food from church potlucks though. I usually manage to deal with those by staying busy making them happen and managing my kid and others. Of course this means I don't usually eat anything until I get home.

Most recent great score from those was an awesome tabouli salad and some Cuban style black beans and rice.

Cleanup? In this case, iced tea glasses and salad servers. We had paper plates with wooden plates serving as trays. The biggest problem was finding the right size Tupperware to hold the extra food.

Nobody wanted to take anything home; that's why we got it all.

It was only seven people plus us. That's a far cry from the 100 or so who used to come through on New Year's Day when we threw an Open House. Now that was a lot of work.
