Can't imagine it

Does anyone ever really cook a main dish in the microwave oven? Ours is used for vegetables, for defrosting, and for reheating. Despite all the pretty pictures in microwave cookbooks, I've never seriously thought about cooking a roast or anything like it in the device.

Anyone?

My mother bought virtualy everything she could find to cook things in the microwave better. Nothing ever came out that great.

I do have a microwave rice cooker / dumpling steamer, that I find indespensable. I also do eggs for sandwitches in the microwave too, I have a mold that makes it the right size - kind of disturbing, but very functional. My son's mother, makes her veggie burgers (from scratch) in the microwave. They fall apart if you pan fry them or grill them.

My mother once tried to cook a ham in her combination microwave/convection oven. She meant to use the convection oven, but didn't flip the switch, so she wound up microwaving the ham for an hour. Made a right nice doorstop, it did.

Yeah, I cook rice and potatoes in mine, make tea, and most every thing else is a reheat of some kind.

Not me. I like my food to taste good. Our microwave is for defrosting and reheating only.

I guess I'd try it if someone came along with a tried and true great microwave dinner, but I haven't seen one yet

Nope (aside from Lean Cuisines and popcorn).

Now, Maxx (the bird) get microwaved peas and pasta, but that's not really a meal.

I've microwaved turkeys in mine with the temp sensor thingy stuck in. The bird browns nicely and is very moist inside.

A big turkey? Wow!

Yep, from a 10 pounder all the way up to a 17 pounder, which is about as large as will fit. I was skeptical at first, but they turn out really tender and juicy.
