Now, c'mon

So the plumber replaces the faucet mentioned yesterday, presents his bill, is paid, and leaves. Two hours later I get out of the shower, turn off the faucets, and the hot-water one serves notice that the little set screw inside the handle has stripped threads and won't properly turn on/off.

What the hell is going on here?

It's easy to explain. There is a plot to drive you completely insane.

Seriously though. A lot of those parts last about the same amount of time. They usualy suffer corrosion, which will kill most fixtures at roughly the same rate, fixtures that get used less, suffering slightly less damage. They don't usualy go within the short period, you seem to have sustained losses in, but it is not all that odd that they would.

Seriously weird - the owner of my old roofing company did a roof, 25 years before we went back on it. He had roofed one section of the roof, every year for the four years it took to finish it. Each section started leaking, within a week and a year of the last. The owner decides to pre-empt the leak and get us there a couple weeks before it is due to start leaking. It was an easy, straightforward job, so my boss sent my second with a couple of my guys, to run it out while I was on vacation. They got started a week late, it rained while they were roofing it - no damage to the house, but it leaked within it's timeframe. The homeowner thought it was hysterical.
