Aha! Other shoe appears!

Well, in answer to my question below, here's an e-mail from DOJ staffer Kyle Sampson (who just resigned) to a deputy WH Counsel named David Leitch which indicates some 80-85% of the US Attorneys are (or are estimated to be) loyal Bush people.

As reported earlier on ABC News, here is the email that shows that the whole U.S. attorney purge scheme originated with Karl Rove. It was released this evening by the Justice Department.

In the email, which has the subject line "Re: Question from Karl Rove," Kyle Sampson, who was then at the Justice Department, discusses with then-deputy White House Counsel David Leitch the idea of replacing "15-20 percent of the current U.S. Attorneys," because "80-85 percent, I would guess, are doing a great job, are loyal Bushies, etc."

It would seem to be a safe assumption that virtually every department in the entire Federal government has been infiltrated by Bush people whose loyalty isn't primarily to the American public and the jobs they were hired to do.

Not only should Rove and Gonzales be in prison, but Bush should be impeached as the treasonous son of a bitch that he is.

I think both parties are full of hypocrites, and US Attorneys have always been subjected to political pressure.

For example, here is a juicy example of a US Senator applying pressure to get a politically-motivated case to move forward:

The Honorable James Comey
United States Department of Justice
950 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W.
Washington, D.C. 20530

Dear Deputy Attorney General Comey:

I write to request an update on the investigation into allegations that senior administration officials committed a federal felony by leaking the identity of a covert CIA operative.

The investigation has been underway for four months now and we have received no meaningful reports regarding the progress you are making. I realize there are limitations on information that can be disclosed regarding an ongoing criminal investigation, but, as we have discussed, a prosecutor has the responsibility to assure public confidence in criminal investigations, especially those of such a serious nature.

In the wake of recent calls by former intelligence operatives for a Congressional investigation, I write to ask that you publicly answer several questions regarding the progress you are making:

Has a grand jury been empaneled in this case? Have members of the White House staff signed waivers, permitting journalists to discuss confidential communications? If so, what percent of the White House staff has signed such waivers? Has anyone who has been asked to sign such a waiver refused to do so?

Have journalists been interviewed as part of the investigation? Has any journalist who has been released from confidentiality (assuming any has), refused to answer questions regarding previously confidential communications?

Were White House staffers ordered as a condition of employment to submit to interviews? Has anyone asked for or been offered immunity? If so, how many individuals fit in each category and what types of immunity have been asked for and offered to each?

What other information can you provide us regarding the progress you are making with this investigation?

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,
Charles E. Schumer
United States Senator

Hyoocrisy abounds in both parties.

Prosecutors have always been subject to pressure from politicians to indict political opponents.

Here is just one example of the behavior of one of those baying the loudest:

Pixelshim, you're not *really* equating the request by a Senator for an investigation of a case where a covert operative's name was deliberately leaked in order to attempt to discredit a critic of the regime... with firing an otherwise competent US Attorney simply because that attorney would not trump up warrantless ethics charges in time to help the ruling regime's election chances... are you?

Come to think of it, both examples DO show just what kind of vile, soulless, and reprehensible people make up this administration. Maybe the cases ARE releated.
