That naming thing

So not very many folks have named computers, apparently. How about cars? Who names their cars?

I never have, but if I named the current one it would probably have an (knock on wood) Old Reliable theme to it.

My last one was named Rodi, a true name of affection. My current one is named Cricket. Dumb name, really, but it's an Echo and looks like a cricket about to jump.

The only thing I've named is my hubby's, well, you know. Um...nevermind

Somehow I've never really named things, with one exception. My first car was a 1963 Rambler Classic, bench seats, column stick shift, bought from my father for $350. I named it Rozinante. My next car was a Chevy Vega, one of the crummiest cars I've ever driven, and I was too annoyed with it to name it.

We have a multiple-computer home network, so computer names are actually a practical necessity. The Mac is Oscar, the Sony is Phoebe, and the HP is Trent-the-3rd (don't ask). But even back in the pre-network days when we only had one PC in the house, we'd still give it a name. I remember a creaky old 386SX/16 that we called Hiram.

Until about 1.5 years ago my primary computer was a P3 733MHz I built in 2000 completely from parts. I named it Pygmalion.

Now, I use an HP. I haven't thought to name it yet.
