Lost, Season 3, Episode 19

It's called "The Brig."

A newly focused Locke breaks away from “The Others” in an attempt to persuade Sawyer to help rid them of a great nemesis that has caused nothing but pain in both of their lives. Meanwhile, a new island inhabitant discloses some shocking information about Oceanic Flight 815.

Locke? Newly focused? I hadn't noticed him being distracted. And what great nemesis has caused both Sawyer and Locke great pain? The title implies something takes place in a cell. Is Sawyer equally angry at Locke's old man? Am I forgetting something here?

Here's Ryan's commentary.

Oh come on... I don't know if they ever said it outright... But I knew for a long time now that Locke's father and Sawyer's revenge target were one and the same con man.
The sheer volume of connections between the Losties alone was enough of a clue that 2 of them would know the same con man.

And yeah, Locke's never been unfocused. He's pretty much a zealot. I can't imagine what that "newly" business refers to. Everything he did in the episode was Locke-esque and not shocking. I think he's more "bad" now than he had been shown to be before, but nothing he did was out of the norm of his behaviour throughout the series.

Well, I was glad to see I'd guessed right.

I'd forgotten Sawyer's parents' deaths and how they came about.

I'm still trying to figure out what Rousseau is going to do with explosives, and what Locke and Ben are going to say/do to one another when Locke shows up with the body.
