Radio silence commences

I just got the Potter book at Borders.

I've never had this happen before: I went to the ATM to get cash to buy it, and I received 20 $1 bills rather than the usual single $20 bill. That was weird.

Sounds like dark magic to me.

That is weird. I thought it was odd just a few years ago, when I received five-dollar bills from an ATM a few years after most machines had gone over exclusively to tens and twenties.

Was the ATM in question in or near the Borders? Perhaps the one-dollar bills were a concession to the younger crowd that would be flocking to the store to join you in buying the book.

Interesting theory, Peter, but the machine was in a separate building half-a-mile away (it's still kinda considered part of the same shopping complex, but it's not very convenient to it. I happened to walk past it after picking up a prescription at the clinic down the block).

On the topic of strange ATM stories... Did I ever tell you about the time I got a counterfeit $5 bill out of the ATM at my own bank? It wasn't even a good fake - it was a photocopied $5 bill. The bank refused to replace it even though I told them I got it out of THEIR ATM not two minutes before. Easy way for them to avoid taking the loss I guess. *shrug*
