Debate #1

My impressions: Obama was cool, collected, and polite. McCain was grouchy, contemptuous and condescending. McCain was also factually challenged in spots.

Since optics are often more important than content (regrettable but true. Al Gore sighed!), I'd say Obama won the bout on points.

yay I found you. I was using the link on the side of Kate's page and kept getting old one. But clicked on your name this time and now here I am. So have saved this one to favorites.

My take on it was pretty much the same as you, Two people watching with me wanted more fire from Obama. But perhaps this was better. he came across as assured, relaxed, in charge and not cocky or arrogant and that has to count for something. Time enough for some bloodletting in the next two.

On another note, I picked up bumper stickers, lapel pins and street signs for myself, a friend or two and my family, from our campaign captain this morning - did errands in two other towns near me and was asked by no less than 6 people....4 of them were republicans or unenrolled (that is what they call us here in MA) if I had extras cause they wanted them. Got some thumbs up from two older women who waited until their husbands were not looking. What fun!!

Grins. I didn't know there were any Republicans in Massachusetts!

I don't see any signs in my neighborhood for either Presidential candidate. Here the hot race is for Mayor of Honolulu; we had a 3-way primary two weeks ago and a runoff will be required.

We didn't think so either (republicans in MA) but then Mitt Romney (remember him, tried to BUY the presidency) happened to us and they came crawling out of the walls........and woodwork and from under rocks.........;)
