Debate #2

I'm predisposed to dislike Senator McCain, as any reader of this blog should know by now, but nonetheless I thought he did poorly this evening, and the pundits thought he badly needed to win.

Eric Kleefeld at TPM compiled a list of snap poll results.

In CNN's poll of debate-watchers, Obama won by a 54%-30% margin. In the CBS poll of uncommitted debate-watchers, Obama won 39%-27%.

. . .Obama is seen as better on Iraq by 51%-47%, McCain has a 51%-46% edge on terrorism -- a subject where he's usually done much better than this -- and Obama wins 59%-37% on the economy. On the current financial crisis, Obama wins 57%-36%.

[snip]

Obama is seen as the stronger leader 54%-43%, and is more likable 65%-28%.

Expect further smears, lies and innuendos from the McCain camp; it's all they've got left.

I'm in!

Well, on my work computer. I can't regularly read/check in from here, but it's proof you're up and running.

I haven't wanted to bore ML readers with the details, but Comcast swears they can get to you, so it isn't their problem. I sent a notice to Firefox, and haven't heard back. As of this morning, my computer still can't find you.

Very frustrating!

So.....How's Tigger?

And McCain? Don't get me started. Even my family can't come up with anything better than "the country works best when we have divided government, and the Democrats are going to take Congress, so we're voting Republican to keep away from one party rule." Is this the latest Fox talking point?

Anyway, I'll keep trying from home.

I hate it when I feel cautiously optimistic about something as important as this. Will the People realize they (and the rest of the Earth, whether they care about it or not) can't have another Republican in the White House?

Juli, Tigger's leg is getting worse, and there's another raw spot on her opposite foreleg (also bandaged now). But she continues to eat heartily, bark at walkers-by occasionally, and otherwise be fairly peppy. She's coming down the home stretch, I'm afraid, but she's not (we hope) suffering too much.

Serge, Election Day falls on my birthday this year. I've never wanted any present in my life as much as I've wanted my fellow citizens to blow the Republican party and its ideology to smithereens this year.
