Nobel Economics Prize 2008

Yeah, yeah, Krugman's economic work was the ostensible reason he got the prize, but I say it's just as important that it went to a blogger.

Congratulations, Professor.

Addendum: Here's an essay Krugman wrote explaining his research methods. I particularly like his rules:

  • Listen to the Gentiles
  • Question the question
  • Dare to be silly
  • Simplify, simplify

By Gentiles he means people outside the field you're studying.

Update the 2nd: Krugman's value as economist and public commentator as seen by a member of the IMF.

Those rules need to be stitched into a sampler!

Yeah. Best I've been able to do is recite "The only stupid question is the unasked question."
