2009: It begins

So, who's hungover? Which of today's football games are you going to watch? Is there a special New Year meal you're preparing?

Is your air still replete with the odor of cordite like ours? We're tidy out here; shortly after midnight when all the firecrackers had been exploded my neighbors were out in the street with pushbrooms sweeping up the mess. That always amuses me and restores some of my good will after three-plus hours of increasing annoyance with the racket outside my windows.

What's up, world?

As little as possible.

Always watch the Tournament of Roses Parade. I have to say, The All-Star Marching Band from Hawai'i certainly has to be one of the best bands to watch!

(video of them last year...but they still have a special "sound and look" that set them apart in the Parade today!)

Went to see "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button". Fabulous movie. See it on the big screen to take in the wonderful cinematography.
It is about 2.5 hours long, but this movie has such a wonderful texture to it, you don't really notice....

Watched hockey played between two of the Original Six (Black Hawks and Red Wings) at Wrigley Field. About as close as the pros get to old-time shinney.

The only football with even the slightest interest-value is the Rose Bowl. That is, interest when the game started. Since it's 38-14 USC early in the 4th, my interest is waning.

What happened to New Year's as the day-of-days for bowl games? (Yeah, I know it's the greed and avarice engendered by the BCS).
