Property planning

I have a lot of sympathy for the 30,000 Circuit City employees who are about to lose their jobs; now I wonder just who might buy a two-story building that's ~20,000sf, windowless, and takes up a half-block. What might that buyer do with it?

The reason this comes up is that the local store is right at the bottom of my hill. It replaced a one-story supermarket about 10 years ago, and I've always felt it was an architectural monstrosity.

the ripple effect is that newer buildings aren't gonna be built since a business can move into the vacant Curcuit City site, and that affects the building industry, the trade I'm in.

But that's my question, Ron. What kind of business would be interested in that building? Certainly not another big box store when there's a Best Buy not a 1/4 mile away, a Sam's Club only a mile or so away, and even a Toys R Us just around the corner.

Somebody could subdivide it and turn it into office space, maybe, but with no windows that would be a hard sell too. At least that way your industry would get some work, though.
