Grammys

The NYT is live-blogging the Grammy Awards, and in the pre-show awards the Robert Plant-Alison Krauss collaboration Raising Sand has already won two. The album won in the folk/Americana category and their song “Killing the Blues” won for country collaboration with vocals.

I really really like that record, in part because Plant surprised the heck out of me with his ability to tone down the Zeppelin wail I remember him for. I've liked Krauss for a long time.

Update: My goodness. Five awards for that album.

How much fun was it to see Paul McCartney singing "I Saw Her Standing There" while playing what was once called a Beatle Bass?

I have "Raising Sand"- Great album.
Did McCartney play the guitar upside down, or did he actually have a left handed guitar??? I think when he first started out, he played the guitar upside down...(Beatle trivia...yeah,yeah,yeah, yeah..)
As I recall, he also wrote backwards. (not all the time, silly...)

I'm pretty sure Paul had a left-handed bass. It was Hendrix who played upside-down strings.
