Bigotry reaches Hawai'i

I'm embarrassed by those of my fellow citizens who participated in this event, and I have some questions for them: Just what the hell impact would the state's recognition of civil unions have on your marriage? Is yours so weak that it would dissolve upon the law's ratification? If so, perhaps you should work on that rather than worry about other people's private lives.

As usual among these things, the agitators all claim they're speaking for families. What harm civil unions might do to pre-existing families isn't spelled out.

I don't understand these people.

We've been asking those questions in California for months. We never get any answers either. I think it's ignorance: the protesters don't realize how many gays they know, and they think gays are some kind of monster, not the guy at the next desk or the barista in the Starbuck's. Sigh.

That's what I've been asking to. Lots of people say "I'm not against homosexuals, but I want to protect marriage"....uh, from what? You don't want a homosexual stealing your husband? Or is the lesbian couple going to adopt your child right under you?

I can respect people who admit that because of their religious beliefs they don't support marriage. I don't understand people who try hide behind a guise of it being a stand for families.

I share you feelings. I never understood how people could oppose civil unions or gay marriage on the grounds that somehow, it will affect their marriage. I don't see how anyone's marriage is affected by anyone else's marriage.

Great thoughts. I'm so angry over this whole thing I can't see straight.
