Fridge

We're waiting for the Sears repair man to come fix the ice dispenser. This refrigerator has given us so much grief in the 5 years we've owned it that we bought a maintenance agreement after the first two failures, and we're damned glad we did.

Actually, after a couple of incidents with the water feed for the ice dispenser (one of which got the floor joists so wet that the basement door dragged), we decided to see what kind of refrigerator we could get without any of that. No water dispenser, no ice dispenser, no connections except the power cord. It's a very nice fridge, an Amana side-by-side. It has more room in the freezer compartment (amazing how much room the dispenser assembly takes up) but a little less in the regular section. I make ice in ice trays and keep the cubes in an ice bucket.

It took three trips. The first time the tech determined that the motor which turns the auger had frozen, so he thawed it with a steam cleaner and it worked for about an hour. I called them back immediately and a different guy came out yesterday, decided to change the entire motor, learned he didn't have one on his truck, and came back a few hours later to replace it.

So far so good.
