With a possible flu epidemic looming, wouldn't it be nice if the federal Department of Health and Human Services had a leader?
Oh, sorry. I forgot that the nominee's position on abortion is more important than the potential disaster a major flu outbreak might create.
Who will rid us of these troublesome radicals?
Posted by Linkmeister at April 26, 2009 01:06 PM | TrackBackRight or wrong, these "troublesome radicals" honestly believe that they are saving human lives (or at least the honest ones do), just like the rest of us honestly believe that a just society can't afford to turn women into incubators. If we turn them into cartoon villains, we lose some of our chance to understand them.
Posted by: DRF at April 27, 2009 03:54 AMIt was a riff on Henry II's famous (and probably inaccurate) line about Thomas Becket, that's all. I don't doubt many of their views are honestly held. Wrong, mind you, but not dishonest.
Posted by: Linkmeister at April 27, 2009 08:40 AMI got the reference. If we take it too far, though, remember who "won" that little argument. (And he was wrong, in my opinion, on the issue.)
