Uh-oh

In the category of "small things which disturb you out of all proportion to their importance," finding a loose screw in the middle of your driveway looms large.

Somehow I find it more disturbing to find a stray screw in the house. In that case, there can be absolutely no doubt that the screw is from some piece of equipment that belongs to me, and which will inevitably explode when I go to use it next, versus the driveway where there is at least a slim chance that the screw fell off the international space station or, y'know, a passing Yugo.

oops - that could be very bad

Depends. Have you been working on your car? Was the screw one of the things you took out of the car if you were working on it?

Rob, my mechanic skills are such that I don't dare work on my car for fear of disaster.

Also, it looks like a variation of a wood screw - pointed end with that fluted style like this drywall screw has.

Wood screw, hey? Probably not the Space Station, then...

Once upon a time I actually replaced both the engine and transmission on my own vehicle. And it actually ran after I did so.
