The classic song sung by its co-composer

I finally got my Grinch fix for the season this evening. Missed the last half of The News Hour to do it, but that was a small price to pay for the joys of Mr. Karloff, Chuck Jones's animation, and poor Max's facial expressions.

From Christmas Songs, The Christmas Song -- Mel Tormé (who co-wrote it):

Here's a wonderful anecdote about some youngsters singing this song with Tormé in the audience, in case you haven't read it before when I've linked to it.

Mele Kalikimaka! :-)

I assume that your little piece of paradise will be swarming with reporters this week.

That's a great anecdote, thanks for passing it along. I've a vivid memory of Torme performing with Buddy Rich on a tv special about, oh, thirty-five years ago. They were amazing.

That is a WONDERFUL story about Mel Torme and I believe every word of it! Now, if that had been OUR group of Christmas carolers, we would have known who he was and been perfectly respectful, which wouldn't have been nearly as funny.
