Top ten cover songs

My friend Kuff dug into his iTunes library to find his Top Ten cover songs. He even went to the trouble of finding YouTube videos of them when possible.

He does this kind of thing every Friday, and I've been taking up his challenge and leaving my lists in his comments each week.

Here's my list (at 0930 this morning -- this afternoon it might be a completely different list).

The Beatles -- Till There Was You from their "Meet the Beatles" album. The song is from "The Music Man." Here's a nice version about thirty years later.
Linda Ronstadt -- After the Gold Rush (with Dolly Parton & Emmylou Harris); original -- Neil Young
We Five -- You Were on My Mind; original -- Ian & Sylvia. The cover was the bigger hit.
Blood Sweat & Tears -- And When I Die; original -- Laura Nyro
The Dixie Chicks -- Landslide; original -- Stevie Nicks
Three Dog Night -- Eli’s Coming; original -- Laura Nyro
James Taylor -- You’ve Got a Friend; original -- Carole King
Jimi Hendrix -- All Along the Watchtower; original -- Bob Dylan
Joan Baez -- I Shall Be Released; original -- Bob Dylan
The Byrds -- Mr. Tambourine Man; original -- Bob Dylan
The Byrds -- Turn Turn Turn; original -- Pete Seeger

I like your selections, but I would like to add my own.

Devo -- Satisfaction (Rolling Stones) from Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo. Not the usual cover, but I like it.
Elton John -- Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds (Beatles) as a single in 1974. One of the few times that I felt that the cover was better than the original.
Johnny Cash -- Hurt (Nine Inch Nails). One of the last hits for an iconic music star, he made this song his.
