Wisconsin public workers

You know that Wisconsin's new Republican governor is attempting to take collective bargaining rights away from most public sector employees in the name of austerity and eliminating a purported $137M deficit.

Now we learn that according to Wisconsin's own fiscal bureau the state would likely have had a surplus of $121M if it were not for tax policies the new Governor just got passed by the Republican-dominated legislature.

This is an assault on public workers' collective bargaining rights not for fiscal reasons but for ideological ones.

Yes, I've been watching it on MSNBC. "The Ed Show" is the best coverage on this around. And look out for problems in Ohio, as their governor is trying to pull the same thing.

The Republicans have started their big push to crush the unions. It's really sad. The unions led to the expansion of the middle class that pushed our country into its most productive age and now the Repubs want to kill the goose that laid the golden egg. Unbelieveable!!

It's really amazing how the Republicans would rather not have any golden eggs than share them with anyone else.

Unions are principal sources of campaign dollars for Democrats and, even more importantly, principal partners in Get-Out-the-Vote activities for Democrats.

Destroy unions, destroy Democratic partners.
