the Republican Congressional leaders are in big trouble for their own re-election. No matter how much hush money Foley donated to their campaigns, I can't see how they allowed him to be teh Chairman of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children, of all things. Foley of course should have stepped down himself. What I'm getting at is, the utter high maka maka of the Republican ruling majority. BTW, if you're looking for work, there's a job vacancy here.
Why act when you can deflect and distract? Alcoholism! Abuse as a child! No, wait, now it's the gays! They ruin everything!
Andrew Sullivan found a story at Fox News which says there's an internal Republican poll finding that if Hastert stays the party could lose as many as 50 seats. That would be nice.
These guys (the Republicans) insist despite all evidence (holding all three branches of government, and yes, I include the judiciary) that they're victims of evil plots against their benign rule. This week it's the gays' turn to be the oppressors.
It would be funny if it weren't so deadly serious.
