Renewed before the drive began. Can't wait for them to unveil that super secret encrypted frequency so paid-up members can hear shows without the pitches!
The only place I know of to hear the PWRA is from the White House web site on mp3.
I am not, nor have I ever been, a member of HPR. I give to OPB, but I have never been a member of any public broadcasting, except when my previous employer, my crew and a bunch of my friends kicked in to get a day sponsership for my birthday one year. I almost wet myself when they announced the day sponsor on my birthday that year, I almost fell off the roof I was working on. Got a real keen tote bag and a video of Moyer's last episode of Now. It was the best birthday present I have gotten in years - except those my son makes for me.
Unfortunately, I can't afford to give enough for a membership, but I volunteer for one of the bi-annual fundraisers to try to make up for it. Ironicaly, I don't watch OPB during fundraising time, nor do I listen. My favorite tee vee time is BBC sitcoms on Sat. nights, unfortunately they show specials during fundraising time instead of my BBC sitcoms. And the radio shows get so forshortened that it's just not worth listening.
I don't have alot of $$$ to give, but I do volunteer my time to answer phones at my former "local" NPR station, KPCC.
Don't have a local station up here in SB...the closest ones are San Luis Obispo (1 hour+ drive) or Thousand Oaks/Simi Valley (1 hour drive).
I've been thinking about spreading the little green love I have around to KPCC and the public station down in New Orleans. Think I might toss a little coinage Hawai'i's way, too.
