We saw JCS earlier this year. I have to admit that although I've never seen the movie, I know the studio album inside and out, and I had no idea that it was an honest-to-god rock opera. I just assumed that it was a musical with dialogue and stuff. We saw it in a small theater in SLC with Corey Glover (from the band Living Colour) as Judas.
Posted by Scott at June 16, 2007 06:58 PMI know a lot of the music, between ALW collections and Sarah Brightman albums, but we don't get a lot of travelling companies for theater out here, drat it.
Posted by Linkmeister at June 16, 2007 07:49 PMI saw Cats on Broadway sometime in the mid tpo late 80's, sitting two rows from stage right.
Loved the entire experience.
Posted by pixelshim at June 17, 2007 03:29 AMI saw a production in OKC at the Lyric (*years* ago w/ my mom). The "cats" roamed the audience before the production, but were absent during it (or at least I do not remember them--I was quite enthralled with the action on stage).
Saw Chicago in London (2005) and the cast remained on stage--smoking, drinking, and gabbing. You know, being "cool."
Posted by shelley at June 17, 2007 07:09 AMI saw Phantom of the Opera in Seattle. It was great!
Posted by Karan at June 18, 2007 05:34 AMMy family and I saw "Cats" on Broadway. I was the only one who didn't fall asleep. It was interesting, and I'm glad to be able to say I saw it... but frankly seeing "The Secret Garden" with the original Broadway cast is still among my top New York moments.
